IW FOUNDER

ALICIA SMITH

Alicia's passion for motivating and supporting is like second nature, and was always demonstrated through her encouragement of close family and friends in whatever endeavors they choose.  She has assisted friends who were first time business owners, others who had just started to build their brand to gain exposure; and provided help with fine tuning their organization and actualizing goals.  The support provided by family and friends; and the support she provided to family, friends and acquaintances alike, always remained a constant.

Alicia was made and packaged in Jamaica.  Early on she realized she had a strong interest in management and marketing; as she is of an analytical and creative mind.  This led to her completing a BSc. in Management Studies with a concentration in Marketing at the University of the West Indies; as well as short courses in Public Relations and Event Management.  During her studies, Alicia worked full time at the National Commercial Bank where she provided excellent customer service and delinquency management advice; while also working part time with Signature Events and Foodie Focused Limited to hone her marketing skills.  In the summer of 2014, Alicia self-exported herself to Toronto, Canada to pursue post graduate studies in Digital Media Marketing.

Upon moving to Canada, Alicia quickly realized a difference in social dynamics; and the lack of social groups and integration of Caribbean people, especially Caribbean women.  Knowing the importance of support and camaraderie in gaining success, Alicia began thinking of a way to encourage this kind of environment and pondered about charting a course.  In November 2018, Imagine Woman was birthed.
